Reflection

"Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to the mountain, 'move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." - Matthew 17:20-21

Let's talk about being stressed out

Straits Times, 15 May 2006

IT IS very true that a lot of pressure is self-inflicted. Nowadays students tend to be harder on themselves, defining excellence and intelligence only in terms of grades. I feel that sometimes it boils down to competition. We are always lookinh to have an edge over our peers. Of course, pressure is needed to strive a person to his or her potential but excessive pressure drives to madness. I believe we need to know when to apply that pressure and when to relax or that rubber band might just stretch too much and snap.

I believe that a certain amount of stress is healthy as it causes one to feel pressurized and to push harder and do their best. However too much of stress is bad as it would cause one to push over his or her limit and cause a breakdown. Therefore everything should be taken into moderation even stress. Thus while studying one should not study too hard and stress oneself out but instead one should study smartly, by studying in moderation and taking breaks at times to relax the mind. As the saying goes: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Most of the times, I see that we are the culprits trying to stress ourselves up. Studying may not be stressful as it deemed to be if we take interest in them, like how we place our interest in games and fun.
